Four of Wands - Harvest & Reward

Here we see Jason is celebrating with his sailing buddies, after the building of their great ship, the Argo. The group will set sail, and the ship will carry them on their voyage, in search of the Golden Fleece.

This is a very positive card, in that on a divinatory level, it augers a time for reward, and success. A creative idea has come to fruition, and it implies there is something worth celebrating. That said, this is the beginning of a hopeful journey, and there is still hard work ahead, before the goal is reached.

We never get to harvest and reward without the help of others. We can be very humbled, and often in amazement of how others can be so kind, and generous toward us. I believe these people are doing so, because someone was kind and generous to them, and they are simply paying it forward, as they say.

Having gratitude for the things received, and seemed not to deserve, hopefully will foster a humble attitude, in order to make us want to pass on to others, that, which was so freely given to us.

Receiving kindness and help is definitely a humbling experience which I am glad to say has become easier for me. Living without my husband has made it very important for me to reach out to others.
This card is for me also about celebrating every step in between towards the final goal. Living in the moment, slowing down time and being grateful for every(sometimes little) achievement so far

Me too Ellen. False pride and cutting my nose of to spite my face, is all very anxiety producing. It has been a big obstacle for me to ask for help. Thank goodness I am changing these habits. When you have been on your own for most of your life, you get use to doing things for yourself. But I know we are not alone, and there are people who will help if we but ask. This has proven to be true for me more often than not, and I am grateful for that.

Your post makes me think of a quote by Bernard De Chartres:
“We are like dwarfs on the shoulders of giants, so that we can see more than they, and things at a greater distance, not by virtue of any sharpness of sight on our part, or any physical distinction, but because we are carried high and raised up by their giant size.”
There have been so many people in my life, past and present, who have built the steps of knowledge and experience that have led me to the position on the stairway I now stand. Even people who I disagreed with are part of its construction. I owe a lot to all of them. :)
