King of Wands - The Spirituality of Imperfection

The King of Wands, the counter part to the Queen of Wands ( The Sunshine Lady) and both are symbolic of the creative imagination. This card also embodies a combination of positive and negative characteristics, not unlike most of us. It can be difficult to come to terms with some of these and easier to accept other personality traits within this individual.

What can be very frustrating about the King of Wands is to clearly recognize the strong leadership qualities and capacities that are apparent in someone who could be a heroic figure, a shaper of world events, and has the power to be a visionary influence, having an infectious personality that can be very convincing to generate change.

Here is the caveat. The fact that he/she is intolerant of limitation, impatient, is certain that they are right, and is an unquestionable bad loser. These character defects can undermine and be very detrimental to his or her relationships.

Though we are not the same in our personalities, we share in common the quality of imperfection. We are all human, need to remain humble, and need to have a sense of humour. These are the life tools and qualities that real heroes and heroines possess.

King of Swords - Primed For Action

Like the King of Swords, I certainly was  primed for action today, to fight the great Burdock Beasts again, this time in my front garden. They are now gone! Unlike the King, I am not exactly an authority, particularly when it comes to burdock, but I was determined in my attack strategy to rid my garden of this invading interloper. I dug out the roots and got them by the kahunas! I may not of succeeded in completely conquering them as there are others around that I can't get at, who will not doubt spread their seed, but these ones will not return! I know burdock do have great medicinal qualities, but I couldn't care less, because they have become my nemesis this week!

I replaced them with transplanted sunflowers, nasturtiums and some wildflowers. Come Fall I will plant Foxglove, bulbs, and transplant a few perennials from my larger garden that is burdock free.
It's very hard work fighting the Burdock Beast, but so worthwhile to have my flower garden back again!

The King of Swords exists within us all, embodied in the mythic figure of the hero Odysseus. He fought terrifying sea-monsters and escaped the call of the sea Sirens who sang men to their deaths. He was driven by determination, foresight, cleverness, with the most impressive strategic skills of the human mind.

However the character defects found in the King of Swords is his lack of empathy for others and the  disassociation from his feeling. Paradoxically this is an individual of high principle in spite of his lack of empathy for others and is a contradiction of terms.
We may not be authorities but with determination, clear thinking, and by using our intellect we can find strategies to overcome our inner monsters.

Poseidon Gettin' Jiggy With It!

Being the God of fertility, Poseidon will cause you to feel the earth move beneath your feet. His amazing power and raw energy gives birth to a new creative vision that embodies courage and fearlessness.

Poseidon is a natural born, legendary hero, the lord of the physical universe and transforms the immense creative potency and manifests it into the world, which is reflected in an individual's ability to acquire possible material achievement through ambition.

I think this card embodies the combination of having creative vision, and the ability to make money in business.

The head line of this post of course is a joke, but if anyone was up for the job of gettin' jiggy with it, it would be him, who could more than fill the bill, being a fertile kind a guy. Dr. Evil he's not, and he's doesn't need a Mini Me.
Poseidon's knows the who, what, why, where, when, and how of the hard knock life.

King of Wands - The Blueprint of Life

With the New Moon in Cancer, indicating emotional fulfillment. It is the astrological sign of the Great Mother, signifying intuition and emotion, brings with it on this day of the new moon, the King of Wands. It also brings to mind creative vocation and purpose, with lots of energy and growth.  It's rather like, finding  blue print of life in our life's journey.

The King of Wands is the Hero, a counterpart to the Heroine, embodied in the Queen of Cups. There is one very significant difference between Hero and Heroine. The Hero is looking back. The Heroine is looking forward.

According to Jungian, Maureen Murdoch, author of The Heroine's Journey, didn't feel that Joseph Campbell's book, The Hero's Journey addressed "the specific psycho-spiritual journey of contemporary women ."

King of Wands - The Hero/Adventurer

The King of Wands is associated with the Fire signs, Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. In some decks, he has the Lion at his back, signifying inner strength, prowess, a spirit of leadership and even nobility. He has a power to manifest his creative vision, imagination, and his firery enthusiasm with an infectious personality, is influential on those he meets.

The King is both skillful and wise, has developed his courage, and sense of adventure. He continues to grow, and prosper, but knows there is always room for improvement. His leadership abilities he will serve both at home, and in the workplace.

He exhibits mastery and self-awareness, reflecting self-control and respect for himself and others. Generosity and kindheartedness is a great strength, innate in the King of Wands. He is both fierce in love and war, and embodies the hero or heroine.

The individual with this personality needs to guard against impatience, selfishness, not paying attention to detail, and the certainty of always being right. He/she may devalue the quieter and ordinary side of life, considering it to be boring, as the desire for adventure, and action can take priority.
